According to local sources, Kim Kardashian West was in town to visit Inmate Rodney Reed at Polunsky, today in Livingston, Texas.

Reed, an African American man, was sent to death row in 1998 after an all-white jury convicted him of murdering Stites, a white woman. Her body was found dumped on a Bastrop County road on April 23, 1996. Prosecutors said Reed raped and strangled Stites.

Kim detailed the meeting, saying, “Today, I had the honor of meeting Rodney Reed in person and the privilege of sitting with him when he got the news that the highest court in Texas had issued a stay of execution and remanded the case back to the trial court for further consideration.”

She continued, “Words cannot describe the relief and hope that swept over the room in that moment. That hope had been building over the last few weeks around Rodney Reed’s case. We have seen Democrats and Republicans come together. We have seen grassroots activists and lawmakers link arms.”

West was in the area due to her husbands (Kanye West) visit with world famous Pastor, Joel Osteen.

Reed has accumulated a huge following of supporters, which include celebrities such as Dr. Phil, Oprah, Beyonce, and the list goes on. Even legislators across both sides of the aisle, are calling for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to delay his execution. Reed claims new evidence suggests he is innocent and another man is guilty of Stites’ brutal murder.
