Features & Help

Click Here If You Are Having Message Board Problems...

  1. User profiles - You must create a profile before you can post messages. All that is required is your name and a valid e-mail address where your password will immediately be sent. You will need this password to post messages. Your e-mail address will not be visible to others in the messages you post or in your profile.

Your 1st post to the message board will have to be approved by one of the message board administrators.  This can take up to 24 hours.  After your 1st message is approved, your future messages will post immediately.

You may feel free to tell fellow i-TOWNers a little about yourself in your profile. Also, your profile can be edited and you may change your issued password. If you change your e-mail address in your profile, you will be sent a new password to the new e-mail address. Your profile name can not be changed.

  2. User Preferences - Some people prefer to look at the message board front page with the topics collapsed, or the messages sorted in a different order. You can go to the preferences link at the top or bottom of the message board and change the settings to have the message board look and work the way you want it to. These new settings will stay in affect until you change them again.

  3. Spelling Checker - If you are using Internet Explorer and have Microsoft Word or Works on your computer, you can check your spelling before posting a message - just click the button before you post your message.

  4. E-mail notification of replies - When you post a new message, you can check the box near the Post Message button, and when someone replies to your post, you will receive an e-mail notifying you that your message has received a response.

  5. Smileys - To insert one of the smileys in your message, put your cursor where you want a smiley, and then just click the smiley that you want inserted. The "code" for the smiley will be inserted in your message - you won't actually see the smiley until you preview or post your message. Make sure that there is a space before and after the smiley code.

  6. Text Formatting - After you type your message, select a word or words, and then click one of the formatting buttons (like bold or italic). The selected text will then be wrapped with the appropriate code for the button you clicked. You can preview the message to see what it will look like with the formatting options you used.

  7. Statistics Page - I've added this page for those who may want to see the "Top 15" Most Prolific Posters, Top Rated Topics, Most Active Topics, Most Viewed Posts & Most Lengthy Posts.

  8. Use Frames - If desired, you can split the screen and have the message board front page on the top half of the screen, and read the messages on the bottom half.  Use the "Remove Frames" link to get out of this mode.
